[ Cassie's trying, and failing at filtering this video away from the Barge. Finally she gives up, deciding nobody would be interested--if she wasn't the one posting she wouldn't be--and starts recording. ]
On the off chance that you haven't given up on me yet Mom, hopefully you're seeing this somewhere and want to talk. Maybe. [ As if preparing for the speech her mom would give her Cassie holds up a hand. ] I know, I know I'm not always the greatest at keeping in touch--I wonder where I got it from--and we've only talked on Skype like, once, but I really miss you. [ Despite the sass inserted, Cassie is completely sincere. She does miss her mother, almost painfully so, but it's mostly because of the distance between them. ] I mean it. Gateway was like a hop, skip and jump away from San Francisco and the Barge is... Well, it's too far.
Don't worry. This isn't me beating around the bush trying to say I want to come home, because I don't. I've actually been having a great time here and I've met some people you wouldn't even believe, literally. [ The "great" is an unnecessary exaggeration, but at least it's not a lie. She's enjoyed herself more than not. ] I won't go on, I just... Wanted to see if you were hanging around a phone, or a computer, or something. I don't really know how this works, exactly.
